The Technology
The Barber Program will prepare you for all aspects of the industry including everything from precision cutting to straight razor shaves to salon management. You will be working in a creative, fast-paced, people-oriented environment. Training will consist of theory and hands-on learning with mannequins, live models and clients in the college Barber Shop. The program prepares the student for the Oklahoma
State Department of Health Barber Exam. Students have the option of adding on the Associate of Occupational Science degree by taking our ten General Education courses specializing in business and communications skills.
The Program
- The Barber License Program provides the theory and practical application necessary to obtain an Oklahoma State Barber License.
- Instruction and practice in the barber course include training for shampooing, scalp and hair analysis, hair cutting and trimming, straight razor shaving, trimming and removal of facial hair, thermal styling, wet and dry styling, skin care, waxing of eyebrows, permanent waving, chemical relaxing, hair coloring, bleaching, rinses and the styling of hairpieces for men.
- For individuals interested in owning and managing their own shops there is an Associate Degree program which combines the license program with education in business management.
